Herve Leger Spring 2013

Once upon a time, every girl had to own an Herve Leger dress! These days though I am a little turned off  by the bandage dresses. Perhaps maybe it's because I have been seeing them on almost every single girl. I started to find each collection way too similar and nothing "unique".  However for this spring collection it seems that there are more patterns added and the dresses takes on several different shapes; but somehow I am still not impressed at all. Out of the whole collection I only liked two dresses. What is your opinion ladies?

Here are some of the looks..

Tips for long healthy hair

Ever looked at a random girl or a celebrity and thought to yourself, "Damn, I wish I had hair like that" ?Okay I'll admit it, I have had many of those moments! On the bright side, I get many compliments about my hair, and several of my friends always ask me what I do to keep my hair the way it is, so I decided to share some tips with all of you.

Believe it or not my hair used to be two times thicker then it is right now. These past two years I have lost enormous amount of hair, especially in this particular year. I am no longer able to bare it, so I decided to take action before further damages could be done.

My first and most important advice for all of you is not to stress! Stress really does cause a lot of harm to ourselves, whether we are conscious of it or not. One of my biggest problems is that I tend to stress out a lot! It is very hard to control stress but I just keep thinking to myself "Is it really worth the stress?"

Make sure you maintain a healthy diet. Eat a balanced meal everyday. Ever hear of the saying “You are what you eat?” well whatever you put into your body really does effect you. Since I live alone, it is very hard for me to keep a healthy routine in my meals, in other words having breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday. However, I try my best to eat healthy. The most important thing is not skip meals, because you might not incorporate important nutrients that are essential for you and this could really effect the appearance of your hair. Studies have been found suggesting that eating salmon, dark green vegetables and beans improve the appearance of your hair.

The other day I went to my hair dresser and he asked me how often I wash my hair, I told him every other day, and he was astonished and told me that I should wash my hair only once a week! To me that was a little extreme and I could not bare the thought of not getting my hair washed more then once a week. So, since summer is basically over and autumn is just around the corner, I will try to wash it every 3 days instead of every other day.

Treatments are very crucial if you want healthy looking hair. I cannot bare the thought of not getting some sort of treatment done to my hair, at least once a week. This could be done at the hair salon or simply at home. I try to do treatments for my hair at least once a week. I am not a huge fan of the hair dressers in Geneva, so therefore I tend to my treatments myself at home. I suggest applying a mask on at least once a week for about 10-15 minutes, or applying some type of oil and then washing it off. I use coconut oil sometimes before washing my hair. I apply the oil and massage it all over my head, and leave it on for an hour to absorb, then I wash my hair. A product that I discovered a year ago was "Moroccan oil" which is a type of oil where you can apply to either wet or damp hair and let me tell you, I am hooked on this product! I wash my hair regularly and before drying it I add a little bit of moroccan oil to the ends of my hair. Let me tell you it really plays a huge effect on my hair; making it look healthier. As for my mask I use the khiel’s mask and I tend to alternate between treatments, so if one week I do the mask, the next week I will do the oil treatment.
A lot of the shampoos we buy can have a very negative effect on our hair, so I suggest using a more natural product. I have been using the khiel’s thickening shampoo for 2 months now and I am very happy with it. Of course, for every person’s hair the product they prefer may differ, however I have recommended this shampoo to several of my friends and they seem pleased with it.

If you live in Geneva and are interested in Khiel's shampoo/ hair mask/ conditioner you can find their products in globus. As for the Moroccan oil, unfortunately I have never seen it anywhere in Geneva, I usually purchase it in London every time I am there. However the great news is that you can order it online.

Moroccan oil and Khiel's have many different products, I think it is really worth to look into http://moroccanoil.com/ and http://www.kiehls.com/

Check mate!

A few years back I remember when the checked prints were almost everywhere. Guess what? It is back again, however this time with a little more class and much more playful! They are everywhere from shoes, bags, pants and coats. It somehow reminds me of a school girl uniform, and screams "autumn" to me. However maybe that is because I am starting university very soon again?
Here are some of my favorite pieces I found on net-a-porter :

Fifty shades..

Summer is the perfect occasion to start a new book! You are much more relaxed, with less obligations and have more time in your hands. Nothing makes time go faster while you tan with a great book in your hands! A few months ago a friend recommended to me that I read Fifty shades of grey, I ordered it through amazon and as soon as summer started I began to read it. I completely fell in love with it and directly purchased the next two parts!  It is one of the new york time's best sellers, sold more then 40 million copies world wide! I will admit, that when I first started reading it, I thought it was a little too intense for my taste and did not really know what all the fuss was about on this book. However I forced myself to finish the first book, and it only got interesting for me towards the last few chapters. Each book is better then the other. So, for those of you who are looking for a book you simply cannot put down, I highly recommend this trio. The story is about a college student who meets a successful business man, and their crazy love life. I won't go much further as I do not want to ruin it for those of you who plan to read it.

Zucchini Borek

Why not substitute you afternoon tea time with more of a salty snack, rather then something sweet. This recipe is perfect for those of you who do not have much of a sweet tooth, It is filling and somewhat healthy compared to all the other ready made salty snacks you find in the super market, and the best part of all is that it is simple to make! This recipe can be made with different ingredients such a spinage, cheese and meat however my favorite is mixing zucchini and feta cheese together.

In order to make this dish you will need:

5 pieces of zucchinis
feta cheese
salt
pepper
ready made pastry
4 spoons olive oil
half a cup of natural yogurt
1 cup of milk
1 egg

Instructions:

Peel the zucchini and in an empty bowl, grind it all, and a pinch of salt and pepper to the zucchini and mix it.
As the Zucchini absorbs the salt and pepper, in a different bowl break and egg, add the half cup of yogurt, 4 spoons of olive oil, the cup of milk and whisk it for 2-3 minutes.

Next you will take out the oven pan where you will cook your borek in. With a brush, add some olive oil to the surface of the pan to avoid your pastry from sticking to your pan.

Go back to your squash mixture and add some feta cheese. The amount does not matter, I love cheese so I tend to add a lot. Make sure you mix it perfectly.

On the pan, add the first layer of pastry, and with a brush add a tiny bit of the liquid mixture and brush through and add the next layer of pasty. I recommend at least 3-4 layers of pasty as it will make up the crust. Next add your zucchini mix, spread it all over. I would say not too thick nor too thin. Finish it off by adding the next 3-4 layers of pastry, in the exact same process you did for the crust.

Finally add your borek to the oven in 120 degrees Celsius and let it cook for an hour. Once your borek is ready I suggest you leave it out for 20 minutes before you serve it.

And voila! your snack is ready.
