Cropped tops

Now the cropped tops have been around for a while, but I keep seeing more of it each day. It seems like this trend has leaned more towards the "elegant" side as oppose to the "edginess" side. I remember back in the 90's when it was all about the cropped tops and showing off your belly button. However now it's slightly more conservative and about showing the upper part of your belly, by having either a high waist trouser or skirt. What are your opinions about this trend? I still do not think I am daring enough to pull it off.
